St. Pat's is such a huge holiday in Chicago, that we decided to go out early for it--real early, like Monday the 16th. We went to Shanahan's in Forest Park, our neighboring suburb.
We each had a shot of Irish whiskey--Lori had her (Catholic) Jameson, and I had my (Protestant) Bushmills--and a couple of beers, and we ate some appetizers instead of full dinners.
The service was atrocious. So bad, that Lori insisted that I tip no more than 15%.
We'll wait a year or two before going back there. After all, we've got a favorite Irish pub just a little further away, at Irish Times!
