Prohibition Jazz Orchestra

Sunday (7/31) we went to Fitzgerald's for a couple of hours to hear this group.


They are a 10-piece (or near that) ensemble, including a tuba player and banjo. On this night they also had their former vocalist back with them.


As the name suggests, they play period jazz arrangements from the 20s and early 30s.

Downtown Saturday

We took the Blue Line into the city last Saturday afternoon, for no particular reason.

We started off at Millennium Park (you can see us in the middle of the bean), where Lori took part in an art project organized by one of our neighbors. Can you guess who her model was?

Then we walked up up Michigan Avenue to the Riverwalk, which we followed west until it petered out.

Then we walked west on Randolph Street, past Haymarket Square, to a brew-pub on Halsted that Lori had heard about. We had a couple of the pub's own beers and a sausage-platter appetizer, then headed south to get back on the Blue Line.
