More Lori, and Kai!

Lori sent more shots from Hawaii today, so I'm passing them along.

I'm in Peoria with Sam, and I took pictures, but forgot to bring a cable so I'll have to post them when I get back to Chicago tomorrow.

And the Sox played in Denver this week, so grandson Kai was baptized into the faith, and his proud parents sent us a photo of the blessed event.

Hey Neely and Jamie, who are his Soxparents? You know, the ones who, should something happen to you (God forbid), would make sure he did not grow up to be a Cubs fan? Cameron would be a great Soxfather.

Not much going on with me right now, though I am going to Peoria on Thursday to see Sam.

Two People, One Blog

Lori and I are separate for a week while she is in Hawaii with Bonnie, Kaci and Annette. I'll post photos from her when she sends them. Here, Bonnie, Kaci and Lori are on Waikiki Beach.

Meanwhile, I'm cat-sitting, and it's been interesting. For the past several days, a pair of bluejays has been relentlessly dive-bombing Harley whenever he's gone outside. There's a short video below of one such episode from Sunday afternoon.

This morning (Monday), I got up to find the remains of a bluejay (pictured) next to the sidewalk out back. Scientists say that something is killing off our small bird population: my guess would be stupidity.

Harley looks full, I think. He wasn't the least bit interested in the canned chicken I put out for him this morning.

Grease

We went into the city to see the original musical "Grease" last Saturday evening.

We stopped at a pub for a bite and beer before the show.

Grease was great fun--none of the big hit songs that were in the movie, but the acting, singing, and dancing were top-notch.

Nice Weekend

That's what we had last weekend, June 4th and 5. We had decent weather forecast, so we bought flowers for our big pots and window boxes on Saturday afternoon.



Saturday night, we all three sat out back. I grilled some shrimp, corn and asparagus.




Sunday Lori planted and I carried. And I smoked some pork chops.




The last picture is of our new "Bud the Dog" planter/lawn ornament, and his pal "Greeley the Cat." Bud was a gift from Marlis and Glenn--Greeley says "Thanks a lot, guys."

Drummond Island Spring Trip

We made our annual Memorial Day trip up to the island last weekend to help Mom and Dad and to get ourselves out of the city for a few days.

We had great fun.

We got there Friday afternoon, and relaxed for awhile.

Saturday we got the pots all planted and cleaned the gutters.

Sunday we went to church (Lori's on the phone with Neely while we were on the ferry) and then lunch and then on a trillium trek. There was a big boat in front of us on the ferry ride back.

Monday we grilled steaks and did the Memorial Day thing.

We drove home--uneventfully--on Tuesday.
